The Pink Chain of Hope

1_Page_2October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Should you find yourself visiting Chandigarh in the last week, you may want to save the date, 29th October, in order to express solidarity with the concerted efforts of the Pink Chain of Hope.

This here is a collective endeavour by a group of well-meaning and resourceful ladies who5 came firmly together, as do links in a chain, to create awareness about a disease that has attained epidemic proportions these past years. Towards which end, they are staging a walk at the Sukhna Lake at 5pm on Thursday, 29th October. Please do match a step or two, or hundred, with them to show your support for this heartfelt cause.

1_Page_3“All funds raised during, before, and after the walkathon, will find their way to the Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, a non-profit well-known for its stellar role in providing holistic care to patients”, shares Meera Singh, one of the forces behind the Pink Chain. She adds that participants will be eligible for on-the-spot scans by Government Medical College and Hospital – Sector 32. In addition, Fortis Hospital is offering free mammograms for up to 400 people.

So remember to pack them comfortable walking shoes if you headed this a-way. Sightseeing just got that much more healthier. And meaningful.
