Chandertal Lake
Yet another high altitude Himalayan treasure, the Chandertal Lake, lies high (roughly 14,000 feet) beyond the main Kunzum range in Spiti Valley and is accessed via a fairly treacherous and bone-rattling dirt track. About three kilometres from Batal where you begin your ascent to Kunzum Pass, the ‘road’ veers off from the Manali-Kaza route at a rusted sign announcing you are some 14 kms from the lake; of which only 12.5 kms is jeep-able. Save for a couple of near empty camp-sites, there appeared to be little sign of life ย as we competed with a rapidly setting sun to reach our destination. We won. I have photographic evidence.
Absolutely stunning……..the approach seems to be very adventurous……….way to go……..
Yes, the approach is rather hair-raising, like most Spiti, but well worth it in the end. Thanks!
Mesmerizing….WOW….
Haina…?
Wow! Looking at the pictures one can visualise how breathtaking it would be when one is there in person.
True that. Even my honed photography skills don’t do it enough justice ๐
Beautiful photography! Very courageous of you to undertake this trip after all that happened in Utttarakhand.
Thank you! I would say mindful rather than courageous, but thanks again.
amazing pics babe….do u ever take excess baggage with you ,in short can one ever accompany you ?
Thanks Harita! As for excess baggage, a plus one is welcome, provided said baggage clears the ‘Cutting Loose Travel Buddy Eligibility Test’ ๐ ๐
